I'm moving to Xanga, so I can write Chinese entries too.
Bye LJ!

The year's coming to an end, so I must make an update, even if it's my last.
Lots of things happened/changed this year. I graduated, got a job and an apartment.
At first I was a little disappointed that I wasn't with one of the bigger firms on Wall st., but I soon realized that this is actually not so bad. Instead of working for 5 years and then *possibly* getting promoted, 7 months into the company, I've already gotten a raise, and well on my way to a promotion and another raise. When the company said, whatever you want to do here, we'll help you get there, they meant it. Hopefully, next year this time I'll be doing something I truly enjoy and making butt loads of dough at the same time.
It's been exactly 1 year and 5 months since my relationship with Jason started. It's kind of hard to believe, because we lived in different cities this entire time. Round-trip bus rides every weekend without fail; we put Greyhound drivers' kids through college and grad school. Hopefully, next year this time he'd be just a subway ride away.
Although I love my apartment dearly, I think I'll be somewhere different next year. I need to have what some people call "savings."
Happy new year! :)

On a whim, I went to Serendipity with Jason and his friend last night. The waiters were gay and bitchy, but the desserts were very yummy. I stayed away from their "Outrageous Banana Split" and went for the "Coward's Portion" instead. It was still as big as my head. (Inside joke: I thought of the little ass-scratching girl.)

A true story.
"My aunt said I should be ready for a breakup." She mumbled.
"There won't be one." He replied and began to lean closer.
It had been 3 years since the day they met. After missing each other at every intersection, they were finally standing still at the same time, in the same place.
"Your lips are so soft." He whispered.
She smiled. Then rushed to the bathroom and puked.

The usual road I take to work was blocked off due to construction, so I had to take Wall st. instead. It was a breath taking scene. I don't think I've seen this many tourists since the summer I visited the Great Wall of China. All of them standing around taking pictures of random buildings and just... strolling, while I'm in a big hurry to get to work in time for the sales meeting. But that is all okay, 'cause I got my STELLA!!
My job is definitely turning me into a person less tolerant of stupidity of any kind.

My boss just asked me to construct an email regarding the Chinese revaluation that will be used as a template to send out to all the clients who aren't news savvy. It's a small task, and maybe no one else wanted to do it, but I still felt special. 8D
First special project of my career, and I'm in complete charge of it! xP

Can't believe it's been a year! <3
The Four Seasons was so wonderful! It was interesting to sit among rich old people who were asking each other "So where do you summer?" I'm summering at Battery Park, and it's been great so far eating from delis and seeing a movie once in a while.
And, thank you for THE PURSE OF MY DREAMS! x'D

They are filming a movie near Wall st. I have no idea what it's about or who's in it. The streets have been blocked off for days and all I can see are tall lights, mic on a stick and camera. What I do know is that there is going to be a woman in a wedding dress involved. So look for that in a theatre near you.

Woke up to the prettiest roses. Usually a sign for a fun-filled day ahead!
Went to the zoo for the first time in ... 17 years? 35 minutes on the subway was well worth it. I saw zebras, tigers and snakes up close. But most importantly, I saw giraffes! I don't know why I'm particularly fascinated by giraffes. I definitely had some awesome wild fun.
Dinner was served at Delmonico's. Their food and wine were absolutely wonderful! Two old waiters brought a slice of cake and sang Happy Birthday to me, one of them said my name the French way.
The day ended with us watching Family Guy in bed. Couldn't have gotten any better than this.

My dad sent me the cutest birthday card that he made himself. It had a series of pictures of me in chronological order - from the foot prints doctors took of me when I was first born all the way to me in my graduation gown from a couple months ago. There were pictures in there that were so dorky that I did not even know existed. In front of the card, he wrote, in simple English words, Happy Birthday to my daughter.
I can't remember the last time I celebrated my birthday the official way (cake, candles and presents). I miss being a kid.

I walk pass this bum lady on the way to work everyday. She seems to work on a normal 9-5 schedule with weekends and national holidays off. I remember when I had to go to work on Memorial Day, she was not there. Everyday, she stands on the same exact corner and yells out "HELP ME~!" in the most desperate voice to every person that walks by; I think that's a lot of work. Today, she wasn't there, and it's not a holiday. I wonder what happened. Maybe she took a personal day.

While shuffling in between big men in suits I almost stepped on a still fuzzy, completely flattened, (at least) 8-inch long rat. It was the biggest rat I've ever seen in my life.
About work, I'm still in training. Foreign exchange is interesting and has a lot of growth potential, but I don't see myself staying at this particular firm for more than a year or two. I would like to go deeper into the field, but with a bigger player.
I finally put the awesome kitchen appliances to use yesterday and cooked for the first time since move in. I made pepper steak, which is one of the few things that I've ever made on a stove. It was pretty tasty. :)

Just when I thought I was getting the hang of the subway system I ended up in the middle of Brooklyn. Jason somehow knew it was going to happen and left a message on my phone telling me not to take the N train to come home, but I got that message 2 hours too late.
Work starts Monday @ 8am. I don't remember the last time I got up for something before 10am. Going to try to walk to work everyday. It's a 15 to 20-min walk from the apt to work, I hope someone who hasn't walked for more than 10 minutes at once for years can handle this.

Just moved into my new apartment.
Spent a couple hours wiping the floors clean, scrubbing the tub, and cleaning everything else yesterday, and now the apartment is spotless.
Still buying random things and settling in. Very very happy with the new place.

The official graduation for the class of 2005 is Sunday. But for me it happened today at 1:26pm when I received an e-mail from my professor of the-hardest-class-in-the-world telling me that I passed and wishing me a happy graduation. At that moment, I knew that I've made it and I have graduated. 4 years at this competitive institute, 2 majors, god that must've shaved 10 years off my life.
Manhattan, here comes one more asian.

Turns out WorkPeople want me to start training and working right away. So I'm going to be in NYC in little over a week. I actually don't mind not having a break in between, mostly because I didn't have anything exciting booked anyway, so rather than sitting on my butt at home doing nothing, I might as well earn some rent money.
I've never lived completely by myself before, but starting off in a tall building really helps calming my fear of ... heads. Maybe it's because I've watched too many horror movies. Sometimes I *randomly* become paranoid about seeing heads popping up behind the windows, appearing in mirrors or randomly sneaking into my bedroom. It's just a head or face most of the time, I don't bother picturing the rest of the body. When I was visiting a few more average looking apartments with fire escapes and windows that looked out into a wall in other busier areas, they felt like the perfect breeding ground for my fear of heads. Fortunately, I'm going to be on the 9th floor, which makes the odds of head-popping minimal.

I am done with college! Class, that is, I still have three final exams left. ><; My body is trapped in Pittsburgh, but my heart has already flown 8 hours to my new apartment in the city. I hope it enjoys the granite counter in the kitchen, the stainless steel appliances, the gym and the spa, while I'm here staring at books, eating junk food and stressing out.
I'm going to be in Battery Park, which is kind of far away from everything that's HAPPENIN', but that's what makes my apartment actually somewhat affordable, so it's ok. I'm gonna be friend-less though, so feel free to visit and call me up to hang out! =D My friend-group refreshes every few years due to change of school, town or country. Very few have lasted through more than 4 years. Let's hope I stay in the city long enough to accumulate more of those kind.
Did you know that renting an apt in the city is like trying to buy a house? You have to make a minimum annual salary of 40-45 times the monthly rent, if you do not meet this requirement then you'd have to fork over a box of paperwork that shows enoughliquid asset that you or your parents possess in order to convince them that you can indeed afford to rent a studio.

I must say finding an apartment in NYC is a humongous pain in the butt. It's like buying a house, except even more annoying.
I'm very close to getting something nice though. Let's hope the whole application process goes smoothly.
